The August episode of MGN is a fun remix of the "best of the best" segments from Season #1. 

Healthy Food On The Run - Revisit with Beth and Kathy DiGuisseppe to learn how even the busiest person can still eat a healthy diet. Being too busy to cook every night doesn't mean healthy eating has to go out the window.

Make It A Family Affair - Dr. Scott Stoll explains how healthy eating is something the whole family can do together. Listen has he explains how to tackle some of the challenges you might face in getting everyone on board.

The Misunderstood Potato - Mandel Smith explains how potatoes are a great source of nutrition and shows you healthy ways to cook them in several delicious recipes.

Since the August episode is a remix of favorite shows, there are no new recipes posted this month. See the "Recipes" page for a complete listing of recipes from MGN's entire first season. Have a great summer!

Stay tuned as Season #2 of MGN will begin on Thursday, September 6th with all new episodes.

Mandel Smith, Extension Educator
Mandel Smith is a Nutrition Educator with Penn State Extension in Montgomery County, Family and Consumer Sciences program. She graduated from Hampton University with a BS in Human Ecology and The University of Tennessee with a MS in Family and Consumer Sciences. She worked as an Extension agent with the University of Georgia in the areas of Family and Consumer Sciences, Nutrition and 4-H for over 13 years. During her extension career she has conducted cooking schools, summer nutrition programs for kids, child care provider training, weight management courses, diabetes education workshops and parent nutrition education sessions. Mandel is married and has two children.



Kathy DiGuiseppe, Nutrition LInks Coordinator
Kathy DiGuiseppe is the Nutrition Links coordinator for the Expanded Food and Nutrition Program Penn State Cooperative Extension. Her mission is to teach limited resource families how to make healthy, fast, low-cost meals for the families. She is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University as a Chef and Food Service manager with certification in Food Safety. Kathy has experience in all aspects of the food chain from being raised on a local family farm to cookingt in a top hotel, to teaching families to cook healthy choices. She really enjoys turning not-so-healthy traditional fishes into healthier lower fat dishes that tast great. Other activities include chauffeuring her two children and spending time with her husband and playing with her Labradors.

Scott R. Stoll, MD
Medical Director, Back and Neck Center at Coordinated Health Systems
Department Chair, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Scott R. Stoll, M.D., was born and raised in La Porte , Colorado . He received a Bachelor of Science degree in nutritional sciences from Colorado State University in Fort Collins , Colorado in 1991.

As a gifted athlete he received many awards and honors. Dr. Stoll was selected to participate as a member of the 1993 World Champion Bobsled Team and as a member of the 1994 United States Olympic Bobsled Team, which competed in the Winter Games in Lillehammer , Norway . These opportunities helped shape Dr. Stoll's future interest in physical and rehabilitation medicine. As a former Olympian, Dr. Stoll was selected to be a torchbearer for the 2002 Winter Games held in Salt Lake City, Utah .

Dr. Stoll began his medical career at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He completed a three-year residency at the University of Colorado , Denver in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Dr. Stoll joined Coordinated Health Systems in 2002 as medical director of The Back and Neck Center and is the department chair of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is Board certified by the American Board of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine.

Dr. Stoll and his wife, Kristen, reside in Saucon Valley , Pennsylvania with their three sons and one daughter.
