Mandel Smith, Extension Educator
Mandel Smith is a Nutrition Educator with Penn State Extension in Montgomery County, Family and Consumer Sciences program. She graduated from Hampton University with a BS in Human Ecology and The University of Tennessee with a MS in Family and Consumer Sciences. She worked as an Extension agent with the University of Georgia in the areas of Family and Consumer Sciences, Nutrition and 4-H for over 13 years. During her extension career she has conducted cooking schools, summer nutrition programs for kids, child care provider training, weight management courses, diabetes education workshops and parent nutrition education sessions. Mandel is married and has two children.
Yvonne Post, Cooking For Real w/ Denise and Yvonne
Yvonne is co-founder of Cooking for Real, a hands-on cooking and nutrition experience for all ages. She designs and teaches programs, workshops and educator trainings in "whole food" nutrition throughout eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey. She and Denise Sheehan, co-founder of Cooking for Real, work to improve the health and quality of life of the clients Cooking for Real serves. Founded in 2005, Cooking for Real also strives to create a local, sustainable food system providing direct relationships between farmers and consumers, and to educate children and young adults through whole food cooking and nutirtion in the community and in the schools.
As an educator in New Jersey, Yvonne designed and created an Early Education Center. She also served as a teacher and school librarian. As she recognized the growing needs of her community, she received a bachelor's degree in Community and Human Services from Empire State College as well as a certification in holistic health counseling from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC.
Stephanie Petri, K-12 Lead Teacher
Stephanie Petri is the K-12 Lead Teacher for Health and Physical Education in the Boyertown Area School district. She teaches 10th grade health and physical education and is also responsible for curriculum development and professional development for the district's health and physical education department. She has played an active role in the Pennsylvania Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and has presented physical education workshops at the local, state, and national level. Stephanie strives to live a healthy and active lifestyle so that she can be an outstanding role model for her students. She currently is a member of the Boyertown Area Community Wellness Council and serves on the Boyertown Area School District's Coordinated School Health Committee.
